| The extent of humanity's yearning desire to steal our Lord's throne and sit upon it is astonishing! How could it ever be that anything WE do could contribute to our salvation?! The implication alone is so absurd that it surely brings satan to his twisted feet in a raging frenzy of inappropriate dance moves! As someone close to me already wrote about, I too recently sat and listened first-hand to some teaching that I had heard of, yet had never really concieved. It was in a catholic church, and it was basically a huge load of scripture demeaning bilge. I soon realized, sadly though, that this is the main story of EVERY human being's thoughts, at one time or another, for most of OUR lives. Yes, even us grace alone, faith alone stalwarts who were referred to as heretics (HA!), are guilty. Every day of our lives we are going to be tempted to take our salvation into our own hands, whether it be our good deeds "impressing" the Lord, or just flat-out not falling to our knees with tears in our eyes and thanking our Glorious God for grabbing our once wretched souls from running straight into the pits of hell. It is great to know that throughout the history of mankind, that the ONE TRUE God has and always will prevail, as will the truth of His word (therefore in lies the very absolute authority of Him being GOD)! |
